Job Description

The Physician Assistant (PA) provides direct patient care under the guidelines of the State of California’s Physician Assistant License. The Physician Assistant will see patients and performs ultrasounds, and other related treatment under the direction and collaboration with the Board Certified REI Physicians. The PA consistently demonstrates professional skills and abilities, utilizing their knowledge base and skill sets to promote the highest quality of patient care.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Willingness to learn and perform gynecologic exams and procedures
  • Physical ability to satisfactorily perform all direct and indirect patient care functions
  • Knowledge of examination, diagnostic and treatment room procedures
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards
  • Experience with Electronic Medical/Health Record (EMR/EHR)
  • Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, staff and physicians
  • Knowledge of quality control standards
  • Working knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:


  1. Prepare and update patient records through EHR system and publish test results to online medical care portal
  2. Treat patients for internal medicine ailments and order blood work and other tests as needed
  3. Establish rapport with patients and encourage them to talk with you candidly and frankly
  4. Provide advice on healthy habits and practices for patients based on their current health status
  5. Prescribe and refill medications as needed
  6. Provide referrals to specialists when required
  7. Assist practice physicians when needed
  8. Perform physical examinations, including gynecologic exams, trans-vaginal ultrasounds, and common gynecologic procedures
  9. Team player: providing supportive backup to nurses
  • Patient education
  • Charting and reporting laboratory results
  • Establish and update patients care protocols
  • Coordinate patient care cycles to include appointments and procedures for all patients including 3rd Party
  • Obtain and document all pertinent patient information
  • Anticipate, assist and perform procedures ordered by the provider
  • Maintain patient safety and privacy
  • Reinforce and support patient educational programs
  • Maintain patient flow and room availability
  • Ensure that all Superbill’s/Fee Tickets have been completed and documented properly
  • Supervise patient care performed by assigned Medical Assistants and Licensed Nurses
  • Assume responsibilities for narcotic medications as assigned
  • Ensure proper handling & documentation of all medication as ordered by the provider
  • Provides IV therapy including administration of medication, including Recovery Room Nurse
  • Escort patients to examinations room and obtain complete and accurate vital signs if needed
  • Maintain patient flow and room availability
  • Maintain all equipment used for patient care and testing
  • Assist with training and orientation of new personnel
  • Identify problems, provide solutions & evaluate results as needed
  • Ensure proper handling & documentation of all medication as ordered by the provider
  • Maintain crash cart and emergency drugs and equipment as assigned
  • Assistance with phlebotomy when needed
